Last night Em, Louise and I finally got round to making cornbread! We've been trying to for ages but we usually end up getting pissed instead because we are winoes. Last night we used all of our self restraint and had ONE social drink, despite there being the exact amount of pepsi left for us to each have another. Aren't we good =)
SO. After a long, hard day at work we trundled home and threw a bunch of ingredients into a bowl and mixed them all about until they had become one. Then we poured it into a dish and popped it in the oven. Then we made dinner.
WONDERFUL, DELICIOUS DINNER.
How sophisticted, a table cloth and everything! That's our halloween table cloth because it's nearly halloween. We've already decorated the flat with skeletons and ghosts and big green webs despite Tom's insistence that it's too early. It's in two days! Silly! ANYWAY. In case you were wondering what that delicious reddy-brown pile is on our plates, it is the best bolognese ever, apart from the bolognese with cream in it, but we're trying to be good, so we had the second best bolognese ever.
I say we're trying to be good, but we did devour a whole packet of apple biscuits between us after the meal. They're just SO good!
Right, back to cornbread. It took about TWO HOURS to cook, instead of the twenty minutes the recipe stated because the oven only gets about as warm as a summer's day in England, which all you English people will know isn't actually warm at all. After our endless patience and restraint from throwing the oven out of the window, we ended up with a delicious pile of cornbread! At last!
For those of you who haven't tried cornbread, you should because it's nice. But not this cornbead because it's ours.
After a night of cornbread adventures, I was very pleased this morning to hear the doorbell ring! Well, at first I was like "fuck sake the doorbell's broken again". The I thought "wait, it COULD be the postman..." so I ran downstairs to check. AND THERE HE WAS WITH A PACKAGE FOR ME!
My lovely new shoes! I'm not huge shoe buying person, but my old ones started getting holes in as they inevitably always do. So here are these wonderful specimens! I'm going to wear them today when I go meet Weez for Yo! Sushi =)
