cushions, bags and three days off

So last night was Connie's birthday drinks, so I booked off today anticipating a wild, drunken night and a severe hangover. However, we bailed and went home before midnight, continuing the festivities in our flat instead. I went to bed quite soon after because I have this gruelling new rota consisting of doing 4 earlies in a row. I'll get used to it in time.

I have a plan. And this plan is to use all the old fabric and scraps I have lying about to make bags and cushion covers, then sell them on Etsy. This way, I will be practising my sewing skills, killing time, using up the old fabric I have lying about, AND making money! Hopefully, anyway. I just need to motivate myself to do it. I love sewing, but I'm not so keen on cutting out hundreds of little squares of fabric, and unfortunately that is what the project demands.

My friend Tom wrote a Facebook status today that reminded me of my plight to de-crappify my life by sorting through my mountains of stuff. SO MUCH STUFF. I have managed to really cut it down, and the making cushions thing will really help because I have a huge pile of fabric that is constituting much of my unwanted crap at the moment. Then there's all the craft stuff. And the mountains of stationary and notebooks. I just love having craft and stationary. It makes me feel happy until I remember that it's just more crap that's taking up space, and space is valuable! The top of my wardrobe is another place that needs a good tidy. There are old litter trays, a christmas tree, millions of plant pots that I can't use because I haven't the space, a lampshade, a sleeping bag, and god knows what else. I almost want to inventory all my stuff, then cross through what I don't need and make it be gone. That would be boring and time consuming though.

I'll just do it the normal way and gradually sort through it all.

I'm off to make cushions now!
